Monreale
One Saturday we visited Monreale, a town built in the Middle Ages on the slopes of Mt. Caputo with fantastic views over Palermo. Monreale is most famous for its 12th century cathedral, which was built in a mixture of styles (Islamic, Byzantine, Christian). The interior of the cathedral is covered entirely with mosaics depicting events from the Bible. By far one of the most interesting churches I've ever seen.
